The Lake Highlands volleyball team is on a road trip this weekend, but this is no vacation. The Pearland Volleyball Classic is loaded with top teams from around the state.

LH is in divisional play today. The Wildcats are in Division 14 in the brackets and will face Fort Bend Austin at 3:45 p.m., Spring at 5:45 p.m. and San Antonio Churchill at 7:45 p.m.

After a tough loss to a talented Allen team on Tuesday, LH won’t get any breaks in Pearland, either.

"You can’t figure out what you need to do by playing teams that aren’t strong," coach Melissa Christman said. "You’ve got to play teams that expose your weaknesses."

Last weekend, LH came back from earlier losses to win the challenger division at the Allen tournament. Christman is hoping to see the same consistency in Pearland that the Wildcats had on Day Two at Allen.

"We want to come out of it feeling right about it, whatever that ends up being," Christman said.

At the Allen tournament, Christman said sophomore middle Matalee Reed had a big day on Saturday and sophomore Megan Garcia came off the bench to provide good defense.
