Playhouse exhibit at Northpark: Get out (inside) and play! Dallas CASA, partnering with Northpark Center, begins the 2009 Parade of Playhouses tomorrow. The 2009 event features 14 playhouses designed by local architects, designers and corporations. A special Garage Playhouse housing a blue SmartCar, donated by Rick and Diana Strauss, and children’s toy car will go to raffle winners — raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. The purchase of $50 worth of tickets earns the purchaser an entry into the drawing for the SmartCar Garage Playhouse. This annual event raises awareness and funds for Dallas CASA, the non-profit agency that aims to connect abused and neglected children in Dallas County with safe homes. The playhouses will be on display through Aug. 23.
Captain Blood: The Pirate Melodrama, another of the Pocket Sandwich Theatre’s infamous popcorn-tossing comedy-spoofs, runs through Aug. 22 at 5400 E. Mockingbird, 214.821.1860 or pocketsandwich.com. Tickets are $10-$18.
