Lake Highlands senior Isaac Grieder obtained All American Status in track and field by placing 6th in the decathlon at the National Junior Olympics Track and Field Championship held in Greensboro, North Carolina in July.

Isaac qualified for the USATF national meet by winning the regional championship two weeks earlier in Houston. The decathlon is a grueling series of ten track and field events that takes place over two days.

“It was really fun for me to try some events that were new for me,” Isaac told me. “I learned you can’t be good at everything, but it’s still worth trying. Everyone has some things they’re good at and some things they aren’t, but you don’t give up.”

Isaac returns for his senior year as the defending district and regional champ in pole vaulting and wrestling. He placed fourth in pole vault at state and second at state in wrestling, and he’s also a member of the Wildcat Wrangler country and western dance team at LHHS. “Time management is tough, and I’ve learned you can’t do it all. You just have to focus on what you do best and give it your all.”

”Isaac has worked very hard all summer long to obtain an All American Status,” said his mom, Pam. “It’s fun to watch him compete. We are all very proud of his accomplishments.”
