You can catch LHHS graduates Amy York (2005) and Kevin Fuld (1998) this weekend in Pocket Sandwich Theater’s production of Captain Blood – A Pirate Melodrama. Amy calls the show “incredibly goofy and great fun,” saying “it’s interactive theater at its best – the audience gets to throw popcorn at the actors.”

Amy plays Lorna Meadowsong, the heroine damsal-in-distress, while others in the troupe are characters straight out of the swash-buckling pirate movies of the 40s and 50s. There’s plenty of “improv and silliness” to keep audiences happy, Amy says.

Most of Lake Highlands last saw Amy starring as Miss Adelaide in the school musical Guys and Dolls. Amy was genius singing Adelaide’s Lament about “gettin’ a kind of name for herself and the name ain’t his.” (Not to worry, moms. Nathan Detroit marries her in the end.) Amy graduated from Ouchita Baptist University, where she acted in, sang for, and directed various theatrical productions. She will soon head to language school in Russia, where she hopes to work with orphans.

You can purchase tickets to Captain Blood at the door or online for the final shows this Thursday through Sunday night. Ticket prices range from $10-18 and the theater is located just south of Mockingbird Station.
