As NFL training camps hit their stride, one former LH kicker is looking for a job and another is looking for a contract extension.

Matt Stover, the only kicker the Baltimore Ravens ever had, was released after in the offseason. Stover was merely one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history. A fan poll last year named him the greatest player in Ravens’ history. He also scored the final points in Texas Stadium history. But the Ravens decided to go younger, which means cheaper.

A couple of guys named  Steve Hauschka and Graham Gano are competing to win Stover’s old job. However, as one blogger put it, you can bet the Ravens – and other NFL clubs with shaky kicking situations – have Stover’s number on speed dial.

That leaves Phil Dawson as the lone LH alum currently kicking in the NFL. Dawson is seeking a contract extension from the Cleveland Browns. He skipped voluntary workouts in the offseason to voice his displeasure with his contract. Dawson’s got a shot at getting a new deal considering he is the only kicker in the Browns’ training camp.
