This month, spend an hour …
… face painting, facilitating games, serving food and drinks, or helping with set-up and clean-up during Vickery Meadow National Night Out, the second weekend in August, to support the Vickery Meadow Improvement Association, an organization that works to curb neighborhood crime and to promote cooperation, community involvement and safety. Or buy UT bling …
… at the new not-for-profit shop owned by the students, faculty and staff of the University of Texas at Austin. Purchases during grand opening of the University Co-op at 7700 Northwest Hwy., benefit the state university — since the year 2000, the University Co-op has given more than $25 million to UT in the form of gifts, grants and rebates. The grand opening is tentatively scheduled for the last weekend in August. Visit coop-bookstore.com for the most current information about the grand opening.
