The air conditioning was broken in the Lake Highlands gym on Tuesday, but most of the heat was supplied by Allen.

Allen improved to 18-3 on the season with a 27-25, 25-22, 25-12 win over LH. Despite the disappointing performance, which came on the heels of last weekend’s challenger division title in the Allen tournament, coach Melissa Christman said the Wildcats remain focused.

"When we came into the locker room, they [the players] did most of the talking," Christman said. "What we practiced, we did. And we fought. There’s losses where you hang your head and there’s losses where you feel like you’ve made progress. Their vision is crystal."

Christman spotlighted a couple of individual performances.

"Christina Flanagan was big for us on the serve and also on serve receive," Christman said. "She is just rock-solid on the back row.

"We had some really good tools out of Melanie Trostel today."

LH travels to the massive Pearland Volleyball Classic on Wednesday. The Wildcats open pool play on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. against Fort Bend Austin. LH is in Division 14 if you’re following on the brackets.
