Volleyball camps begin next week (July 20-24) at Lake Highlands, which means UIL volleyball season is not far off.
Two camps will be conducted, one for youngsters (third through eighth grade) and one for high school-age players. New coach Melissa Christman said walk-in registration is available. Just show up at 7:30 a.m. (Camp starts at 8 a.m.) with your child ready to participate. Fees are $85 for the younger group and $115 for the big kids. Snacks will be provided. The volleyball team had a breakthrough season in 2008 with its first-ever trip to the state tournament. Christman said LH will once again have to be a “scrappy” team because there’s not a lot of height. “I know the girls have been working really hard this summer, so I’m really excited,” Christman said.
