Looks like we’re going to have to wait a few more weeks to find out the next Dallas street to become controversial because someone on the council has proposed changing its name to Cesar Chavez. Councilman Steve Salazar has now withdrawn his request to change Young Street downtown to Chavez, discussed here at Back Talk last week. Seems others on the council didn’t like his sort-of stealth attempt to get the ball rolling without consulting them. He and a few council cohorts are now reviewing options, according to the Observer, and we’ll probably hear more sometime after the council concludes its July break.
