Neighbors flocked last Saturday to the first White Rock Local Market, which will take place henceforth on the second Saturday of every month. I was planning to drop in at around 11 a.m., but our photographer extraordinaire Can Turkyilmaz (a.k.a. Turk) informed me that the market had already sold out of produce (and that it was really hot).

While he was there, he shot some photos and chatted up event organizer Sarah Perry, who told him that she couldn’t have been happier about the turnout; that she got some great ideas for the next time around — she wants to have more produce and more flea market-type items such as groovy clothes for adults, records and comics, and maybe even bikes and/or bike parts for cyclists who stop by. She said that Saturday’s vendors were super-successful and some new vendors have already signed on for July’s event. This time, I’ll get there early!
