A few of you have inquired about what is going on at Lake Highlands park on Buckner and now I see the cause for curiosity  — there are dozens of trucks, loads of equipment and hundreds of people out at the field best known for its rugby action.

Turns out United Way is filming a commercial with NFL players and dozens of kids from West Dallas Community Centers. Though not an official roster, I saw the following NFL players at the shoot: Hines Ward, #86, former Superbowl MVP for the Pittsburgh Steelers; Antonio Gates, #85, all-pro tight end for the San Diego Chargers; and A.J. Hawk, the long-haired offensive linebacker for the Green Bay Packers. (No Dallas Cowboys in sight).

The director had the kids and players in a group running toward the cameras, and he implored parents (and me) not to use flash photography, and since it was overcast, my photos came out crummy. Looks like it will be a cute commercial, though nothing will ever top that Peyton Manning United Way commercial by way of Saturday Night Live.
