Yesterday morning a robbery and temporary kidnapping happened in the far north reaches of Lake Highlands. The crime caught my attention because it happened at a house just across Audelia from my new residence in the Woodbridge neighborhood and it held my attention because of its scary and wild nature.

According to this DMN story, a 39-year-old female homeowner who lives on Cherry Tree Drive, which is close to Richland College, was robbed, beaten, hog-tied, kidnapped and forced to withdraw a total of $800 from two ATMs, then let go at a parking lot in the 9700 block of Forest Lane.  The thieves took the woman’s 8-year old nephew along for the ride. She reportedly told the police she thinks the criminals, two men and possibly a woman armed with hunting knives and a hammer, may know her family and that they seemed to know the house and the neighborhood.
