Dog Fancy — the most widely read rag about man’s BFF — just came out with its annual Best Dog Parks in America list. This year’s top dog park was Freedom Bark Park in Lowell, Ind., noted for its “digging areas so dogs can do what they love to do” and the environmental efforts of the park’s committee. Again this year, the White Rock Dog Park isn’t on the list, which is based on standards including water for dogs and their people, shade, lights, parking availability and accessibility, support organizations, special events and the like.
We may make that list someday —the WR park has definitely improved since last year around this time when it was closed due to flooding most of the time. I’ve noticed the flooding isn’t as bad these days. Aside from the tight parking lot and the occasional knife fight, I’d say it’s been a pretty good year for our little dog park.
