Come out tonight at 7:30 pm to see the Lady Wildcat softball team attempt to clinch the district championship at WT White (map here). If they win tonight, they will be the first softball team in LHHS history to win the title. The girls are currently 11 and 1 in district (18-6 overall) after beating a tough Creekview team Monday night.

The team is loaded with girls who are active in a variety of LH organizations and activities. In fact, choir director Michael O’Hern is making sure junior Callie Herod makes it back for Friday’s important home game against Molina by giving her the okay to leave the choir trip early to be ready to play. The team is a blend of girls in grades 9-12, with varsity freshmen making standout contributions, including Erin Brennan who has been pitching at all-star levels all season. Seniors Maci McPherson and Crystal Bradley set the tone for cooperation and work ethic, while juniors Kristen Parrish at first, Mary Beth Smith at second, and Callie Herod at catcher lend support. The girls were quick to tell me there ARE no all-stars or captains singled out – they insist the play of each team member has been critical to their success. Go Cats!
