Lake Highlands High School’s jazz bands will perform this Friday and Saturday at their annual “Evening of Jazz” event, and principal Walter Kelly is expected to make a surprise appearance playing guitar. Kelly is new to the school, so we don’t yet know what his hidden talents may be, but it calls to mind former principal Dr. Bob Iden’s on-stage exploits. The best was in his role as train conductor in Music Man, which was great fun for the kids onstage as well as the audience. I’m betting students will see Mr. Kelly in a whole new light after seeing him play guitar.

Also performing with the kids will be internationally known alto saxophonist Vincent Herring. Click here to see Herring performing at a concert in Japan.
