Last night, both LH soccer teams played playoff games, ending in a split decision. The district champion girls team beat the Sachse Mustangs 3-1, and, honestly, it wasn’t a close as the score indicates. The Wildcats dominated in possession, skill, leadership, and poise under pressure. The entire team played well, but Avery Atkins, Carlie Davis, and Maddie Short demonstrated the benefits of having experienced seniors in a playoff game. And Little Glory Williams, a freshman, was fierce. I have to chuckle watching her, having known her since she was three. We’ll expect to see much more from this talented player in years to come. Stay tuned for details on the girls’ next game.

Meanwhile, the season is over for the boys’ team. Their 2-1 loss, also to the Sachse Mustangs, was actually closer than the score would reveal. With an all-out push in the last three minutes to tie it up, the Cats fell short but should be proud of their outstanding effort. Congrats to my kid junior Ben Toler, nicknamed "Benihana North Dallas" by his number one fan Jody Zorn, for a nice goal to keep us in the game. Our goalkeeper, Stephen Holick, was heroic to keep their multiple shots out of the net. Sadly, the Mustang keeper stifled our offense as well, and we just ran out of time.
