By the time I finish writing this post, there will be about five days, one hour, and six minutes until the White Rock Marathon. I’m not that obsessed — there’s a countdown on the web site. But, who am I kidding? I am pretty obsessed with it. I wrote back in July here on Back Talk that I was gonna do this thing. Thanks to all the great peeps at the Dallas Running Club, I am actually going to run 26.2 miles next Sunday. Anyway, I’m not the only one preoccupied with this Sunday’s race. The Morning News has kicked off marathon week with a few good reads by special contributor Debbie Fetterman — one on Sunday about race technology details several of the high-tech devices — like a new timing chip and watches with GPS — that make life easier for runners, spectators and race organizers.
One behind-the-scenes look at how the course is measured.
And an article about pacers, experienced runners who help marathoners stay on goal. Plus, the News has been doing weekly expert tips for marathoners on their fitness blog.
