Something I recently learned the hard way, runners need to break-in new shoes every three- to four-hundred miles. Often when you hit that mark, the shoes are still in relatively good condition (after 300 miles or so they begin to lack the cushion runners need to avoid injury). Last night, Fox 4 news ran this piece about White Rock area neighbor Ken Troupe — who despite being out of work himself, spent the day yesterday handing out shoes collected from scores of Dallas runners to homeless people in the area. Part of the news story is shot at the Gaston-Grand intersection — look for the Advocate billboard in the background.
