Channel 4 reports that the city is not using the state’s suggested yellow light time interval at 21 of Dallas’ 60 red-light camera intersections. The result? Shorter yellows, and more tickets issued for running red lights.

Among the intersections that have shorter intervals than the state recommendation is Greenville northbound at Royal, which is 4.14 seconds long vs. the 4.5-second recommendation. It accounted for 2,825 tickets during the program’s first eight months. That compares to 1,892 citations at Abrams southbound at Forest, where the interval is .10 seconds longer than the state guideline.
