The Skillman Street-Church Road rezoning was approved by City Council yesterday according to a news blurb that you can read here. Many of us remember the feuding several months ago over this. If not, here‘s where it kind of started … or here. In fact, the Skillman-Church issue was one of the most hotly debated on Back Talk ever.
Nevertheless, yesterday as I quietly worked on an upcoming Advocate feature, and blogged about the Daily Show and silly political commercials, the item was undramatically (as far as I know) passed by the city council.
City Councilman Jerry Allen had given opponents of the rezoning about three months to seek a single family homes developer, and then he did as he’d promised, which is urge his fellow council members to allow the development of a senior living community in the spot.
