I know Spiral Diner sits slightly south of the Advocate coverage area, but since it offers such a unique concept, I figured it warranted a mention. Spiral Diner is a vegan restaurant that recently opened its second location in Oak Cliff. (Yes, all you incurably carnivorous creatures can move on to the next entry.) The first time I visited the Spiral Diner in Fort Worth, I was immediately delighted with its warm, fun atmosphere — it’s a little edgy; the waiters and other workers were randomly tattooed and pierced. They laughed and joked and made us feel very welcome. After a couple bites into my burrito, which put Chipolte’s to shame, I forgot I was even eating vegetarian.
