Had an email from busy LH Community Garden organizer Mr. Nickerson and here’s what’s happening:

Thanks to the generous grant from Scott’s Miracle-Gro, he and his city cohorts did a little shopping – about 8K worth of compost, organic fertilizer and soil for the 31 plots at Goforth and White Rock Trail. And…Scott’s isn’t finished with their largess yet.

Looks like they’ll be putting money toward the raised beds, fence, garden carts, forks and rakes and…a water faucet for EVERY plot. Yep, about as good as 40 acres and a mule. My little #8 will have its own water source! No hose trampled tomatoes! Good neighbor Brumley’s has jumped on board too and will help with plants.

Mr. Nickerson says that working alongside those JP Morgan Chase volunteers on Saturday, April 12th (Earth Day) will also be city big wigs, the press, and as word is spreading, more hard bodies raking, hoeing and smoothing the good earth. And why not? This is VERY cool. THIS is Lake Highlands, THE community, at its finest. Talk about the RIGHT kind of development. No controversy here.
