I make countless trips back and forth down Audelia between Walnut Hill and Royal, going from my house to my folks condo. Countless. I’m good buddies with the lovely Audelia/Estate Lane Crossing Guard. We wave at each other and I hold up my fingers with a count each time I pass him during school hours.

I’m often at the Audelia/Royal intersection as the sun is setting and have seen the amazing birds gather for a couple of years now. Amazing. Hitch is hiding somewhere. My theory is that electricity has something to do with it – I can’t back that up but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

My ‘partner in crime’ who helps me immensely with PR is LHE’s indispensable Angel. She suggested I post about the birds. Like I don’t have other fish to fry. Today I was at the intersection at the exact right time. I was stopped at the Audelia/Royal light. I HAPPENED to have my camera with me. I popped open the sun roof. I put the car in park. I unstrapped my belt. I climbed up my seat (in my boots no less). I managed to snap just one before the light changed and a honk ensued.

Here are the cool birds of Lake Highlands just for you Angel.
