It’s five years of deferred adjudication probation (five years for tampering with a consumer product and two years for misdemeanor assault, served concurrently) for one of the two infamous marijuana muffin delivery boys. Joseph Tellini pled guilty and agreed to the sentence last week to cap his role in the 2006 prank that sent 19 teachers and other employees of LHHS to the hospital. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt, and to a certain extent, the same can be said about Tellini. Stripped of a scholarship to an Ohio college and now saddled with legal costs and probable restitution to RISD for up to $45,000 in medical bills, the young man has certainly paid a price for his role in the incident. Credit the Dallas County DA office with some compassion, too: If Tellini keeps his nose clean for the five-year probation period, "he can legally say he has no convictions," according to the Morning News story on the plea. That’s a whole lot better than being saddled with a felony conviction, which would make it pretty hard to get a decent job. Action against the other young man involved in the incident, Ian Walker, is still pending.
